YOKOSUKA, Japan – Seaman Apprentice Luis Dorado, a native of Sunland Park, New Mexico, serves in Japan aboard a forward-deployed U.S. Navy warship.

Dorado joined the Navy one year ago. Today, Dorado serves as a cryptologic technician aboard USS Ralph Johnson.

“I joined the Navy to build a career,” said Dorado.

Growing up in Sunland Park, Dorado attended Santa Teresa High School and graduated in 2022.

Today, Dorado relies upon skills and values similar to those found in Sunland Park to succeed in the military.

“Growing up in my hometown I was always doing something,” said Dorado. “That gave me the work ethic and motivation I use in the Navy.”
