New York Man Murders Four Family Members and Attacks Police Officers

A New York man brutally murdered four family members, including two children, and went on to attack two police officers before setting the home on fire.

The perpetrator, identified as Courtney Gordon, 38, was fatally shot by a police officer as he attempted to flee the scene with luggage.

Currently hospitalized, a 61-year-old woman is in critical condition as a result of the terrifying incident. Several months ago, family members reportedly attempted to get assistance for Gordon’s mental health issues.

It was discovered that Gordon had recently lost his job as a ride-share driver due to a breakdown in his car and had stopped taking his medication.

Two police officers, who were slashed by Gordon during the altercation, have been released from the hospital as of Sunday night.

Tragically, an 11-year-old girl was found dead outside the home in the Far Rockaway neighborhood.

A New York man brutally murdered four family members, including two children, and went on to attack two police officers before setting the home on fire.

Inside the house, firefighters had to extinguish a couch that had been set on fire while the bodies of a 12-year-old boy, a 44-year-old woman, and a 30-year-old man were discovered.

According to reports, the suspect had a previous arrest for strangulation during a domestic incident. Gordon’s cousin expressed shock at the violence, revealing past signs of concerning behavior.

“He was very defensive towards everybody, and verbally, you could see the clues of what he was, but you just saw it,” said Sean McCoy.

McCoy described how Gordon’s aggressive outbursts and loud yelling made people cautious around him.

Authorities have not yet released the identities of the victims, as investigations are still ongoing. NYP Chief of Department Jeffrey Maddrey confirmed that the weapon used to injure the officers was a typical kitchen steak knife, which has been recovered as the only weapon at this time.

A community struck by this unimaginable tragedy is in shock and grief. In order to stop these awful incidents from happening in the future, it is critical to discuss the importance of mental health care and intervention as the inquiry develops.
