New Mexico Lawmakers to Take up Recreational Marijuana Bill

One item on the agenda in the new legislative session at the Roundhouse starting this week is a recreational marijuana measure. Representative Javier Martinez from Albuquerque plans on presenting the project today. Doña Ana County Sheriff Kim Stewart is skeptical, and among other concerns, says such a program might upend the state’s successful medical marijuana program. Martinez says the concern is real so care will be taken not to include any regulatory language in the recreational marijuana measure that would disrupt medical marijuana patients’ access to green therapy.
