New Mexico Files Suit Against Executive Branch Over Release Of Immigrants

New Mexico is suing the Trump administration over its policy of letting thousands of immigrants go free in border cities and communities in New Mexico.

Governor Michelle Luján Grisham made the announcement yesterday. The suit claims the Trump administration is in violation of its own “safe release” policy through the “indiscriminate practice of releasing” the immigrants onto city streets with no resources or assistance provided. The city of Albuquerque is a co-plaintiff with the state of New Mexico in the suit that seeks compensation for the expense of providing shelter, transportation and other immigrant needs.
