Native American Vaccine Trial

Navajo Nation has announced they are participating in a COVID-19 vaccine trial on a patient-volunteer basis. Navajo Nation accounts for tribes in Utah, New Mexico, and Arizona. According to the CDC, there are currently one-thousand-158 cases among Native Americans in California and 72 deaths. The highest age range for positive cases is 20-to-29-years-old. Most deaths were among those 80 years old and up. CDC data is showing that Native Americans in California are testing positive at rates lower than their proportion of the state’s population, but they are dying at higher rates.
