Man receives sentence for shooting another man in a barbershop

The Las Cruces Sun-News is reporting A Las Cruces man has been sentenced to nine and a half years in prison for shooting a barbershop customer following a dispute over a stolen wallet. You might remember the incident occurred back on March 4th at a barbershop on Foster Road, where Lawrence Chavarria shot Angel Flores after Flores suspected Chavarria of stealing his girlfriend wallet. Flores survived being shot in the chest. Chavarria pleaded guilty in August to three felony counts, including aggravated battery resulting in great bodily harm, child abuse not resulting in death or great bodily harm, and being a felon in possession of a firearm.
