Majority of Americans Question Mental Capabilities of Biden and Trump, Reveals Recent Poll

According to a recent survey, 60% of Americans question the mental abilities of both Joe Biden and Donald Trump in anticipation of the 2024 presidential election.

Joe Biden is 81 years old, making him the oldest president to ever serve, while Donald Trump is 77 years old.

Around 63% of participants expressed low confidence in Mr. Biden’s mental abilities. Just over half of the respondents, 57%, expressed similar feelings about Mr. Trump.

The results were from a recent survey conducted by the Associated Press-NORC Centre for Public Affairs Research to assess voter trust in the two potential candidates for the upcoming election.

In January, a poll was conducted focusing on Mr. Biden’s memory. Back then, only around half of those surveyed shared the same worries, indicating that the public has become more concerned in recent months.

Independents were much more inclined to voice worries about Mr. Biden’s mental sharpness, with 80% indicating they doubted the president’s capability to govern. Among the same group, 56% shared similar worries about Mr. Trump.

When questioned about their support for Mr. Biden’s leadership, only 38 percent of those surveyed responded positively.

Around 74% of Democrat respondents expressed approval of Mr. Biden’s performance, compared to 20% of Independents and just 6% of Republicans.

The survey details Mr. Biden’s performance across various key areas, with approval ratings varying depending on the issues.

When it comes to climate change, health care, abortion, and the Russia-Ukraine war, 4 out of 10 participants expressed approval of Mr. Biden’s approach to these matters.

Regarding immigration, the Israel-Hamas war, and the economy, fewer individuals expressed approval – 29 per cent, 31 per cent, and 34 per cent, respectively.

Over half of the participants, 57 percent, expressed their belief that the economy has worsened since Mr. Biden assumed office in 2021.

Just 30% of respondents indicated that conditions had improved since he assumed office.
