Low Income Housing Project For The Elderly Gets Funding Stimulus

A generous grant is helping to get a low income housing project for the elderly off the ground. The two-point one-million dollar federal grant goes toward the construction of a new residential site. The proposed 40-unit apartment complex is for low income people 62-years of age and older. The apartments will be adjacent to another sister site, the Ed Romero Terrace which is near Texas Street and Central Avenue. The other half of the funding will be raised from public and other sources in the city and state. The Albuquerque Journal reports that construction is expected to begin sometime next year.
