Experts Advocate Going Braless for Improved Blood Flow and Perkier Breasts

Experts argue that going braless could result in perkier breasts, contrary to the popular belief that bras provide the necessary support, as the tight pressure from bras can weaken breast tissues over time, leading to sagging. 

Moreover, going without a bra is said to strengthen back muscles, thereby improving posture and contributing to a lifted appearance.

The discussion on the benefits of bra-wearing has gained momentum recently when content creator Kaylee shared her experience with her 182,000 TikTok followers. 

Kaylee revealed that she hadn’t worn a bra in five years, asserting that her breasts had remained perky throughout this time. 

She even suggested that other women would be “better off” freeing their breasts, as the muscles would eventually become strong and support the breasts naturally.

Surprisingly, some experts seem to support this perspective. Dr. Lucky Sekhon, a board-certified OB/GYN and reproductive endocrinologist, debunked the common misconception that not wearing a bra leads to sagging. 

She stated that women who have gone without a bra for extended periods often report firmer, rounder, and perkier breasts over time. 

Although individuals with larger breasts may initially experience some back strain, over time, their chest and back muscles will strengthen, providing adequate support without the need for a bra.

Similarly, Dr. Foued Hamza, an internationally renowned cosmetic surgeon, highlighted that wearing a bra can contribute to the saggy effect by working against gravity and weakening the breast’s natural ability to lift itself.

While some studies support the notion of going braless, others have faced criticism due to methodological limitations.

A 1990 study observed a significant drooping in the breasts of eleven young women after three months of wearing a “well-fitted” bra. 

Additionally, a 15-year study conducted by Dr. Jean-Denis Rouillon concluded that bras did more harm than good when it came to breast perkiness. 

The research showed that women who didn’t wear bras had nipples positioned higher by seven millimeters compared to those who did.

Experts acknowledge the need for further research to draw definitive conclusions. However, they do point out some potential benefits of not wearing a bra, including improved circulation and healthier breast skin. 

Wearing a bra can hinder blood flow to the muscles in the back and chest wall, potentially leading to backaches. 

Bras can also trap sweat, dirt, and moisture, which may cause pore blockages, irritation, and breakouts, particularly after exercising.

While bras may be helpful in providing additional support for sagging breasts, experts suggest that women have the option to go braless if they find it comfortable and believe it leads to perkier breasts.
