Congresswoman Deb Haaland is promoting farmers’ rights in Washington, D.C. The Albuquerque-area Democrat introduced the Farmer’s Bill of Rights resolution measure on Thursday. The Albuquerque Journal reports that the resolution provides protections for farmers, ranchers, their families and for communities dependent on agriculture. New Jersey Senator Cory Booker co-sponsors the measure. In a statement, Haaland said the idea is to protect the land, resources and livelihood of small scale farmers from the encroachment of huge corporate agriculture production outfits.
