Billie Eilish’s Awkward Moment with Dua Lipa at Critics Choice Awards

A cringe-worthy moment unfolded at the 2024 Critics Choice Awards when a video captured Billie Eilish unintentionally snubbing Dua Lipa, leading to an outbreak of secondhand embarrassment among fans.

Both the 28-year-old British-Albanian pop sensation and the 22-year-old “Ocean Eyes” singer attended the 29th Critics’ Choice Awards on January 14 to celebrate the Greta Gerwig-directed film, Barbie. Lipa’s track “Dance the Night” earned a nomination for Best Song, while Eilish received a nod in the same category for “What Was I Made For?”

Seemingly sharing a table during the event, Lipa and Eilish engaged with fellow Hollywood stars. Cameras captured a moment where Lipa leaned in towards Eilish, apparently attempting to pose for a photo together.

However, Eilish, seemingly unaware of the camera, sat down at their table, missing the cue. To recover from the unintended snub, Lipa straightened up, chuckled, and casually picked up something to eat from the table.

A cringe-worthy moment unfolded at the 2024 Critics Choice Awards when a video captured Billie Eilish unintentionally snubbing Dua Lipa, leading to an outbreak of secondhand embarrassment among fans.

Eagle-eyed fans quickly noticed the awkward interaction and shared a video on X, amassing 6.5 million views. Comments poured in sympathizing with Lipa, with one user humorously captioning the viral video, “LMAO poor Dua.”

“The secondhand embarrassment is so strong with this,” another user commented. Someone else expressed physical cringing, saying, “Holy f*** this made me physically cringe,” while another remarked, “One more reason I couldn’t be famous… embarrassing moments caught on camera, seen by thousands, and exists on the internet forever.”

Despite the awkward encounter, the two singers managed to salvage a photo opportunity at the Critics’ Choice Awards.

Both were seen smiling during the event, even posing with Eilish’s brother and frequent collaborator, Finneas O’Connell.

While neither Lipa nor Eilish took home the Best Song award, Barbie secured a victory with the track “I’m Just Ken.” Interestingly, actor Ryan Gosling’s unexpected reaction to the award has become meme-worthy, spawning numerous internet memes.
