Biden Pledges to Reinstate Roe v. Wade Amidst Spotlight on Abortion in State of the Union Address

President Joe Biden plans to highlight the electoral power of American women during his State of the Union speech and promises to enact a law guaranteeing the federal right to abortion if he is reelected with a Democratic majority in Congress in 2025.

As per a statement released by the White House, Mr. Biden will mention the Supreme Court’s majority opinion overturning Roe v Wade, where the conservative majority stated that women “are not without electoral or political power.”

He will cite those words from the court’s decision and comment: “No kidding”

“Those boasting about overturning Roe v. Wade clearly underestimates the influence of women in America.”

But it was discovered when reproductive freedom was up for a vote and emerged victorious in 2022, 2023, and they will experience it again in 2024,” he will declare.

Mr. Biden is expected to address the House and Senate members, as well as the American people watching at home.

He will emphasize the importance of having a Congress that supports the right to choose, promising to sign a bill to restore women’s reproductive rights nationwide if elected.

WASHINGTON, DC – JANUARY 22: U.S. President Joe Biden attends a meeting of the Reproductive Health Task Force at the White House on January 22, 2024 in Washington, DC. Biden met with the task force to discuss reproductive health and to mark the 51st anniversary of the Roe v. Wade decision.

The prepared remarks of the 46th president also seem to take a jab at the individual he defeated in the 2020 presidential election and will compete against again in this year’s contest, former president Donald Trump.

Here’s another part of his speech where Mr. Biden expresses his intention to convey to Americans that his experiences have led him to value freedom and democracy, and to envision a future built on America’s fundamental principles: honesty, decency, dignity, and equality.

He will mention that he has gained wisdom over his 81 years by learning to respect everyone, give everyone a fair chance, and not tolerate hate.

Now, some individuals my age perceive a contrasting narrative: an American tale of bitterness, payback, and payback. “That’s not me,” he will declare.

The mention of “resentment,” “revenge,” and “retribution” seems to be a pointed reference to Mr. Trump, who often refers to himself as his supporters’ form of “retribution” during his campaign speeches.

With 24 weeks left until the 5 November general election, the president’s annual message to Congress is one of the final significant chances he will have to reassure Americans that he is capable despite being the oldest-ever chief executive to serve and the oldest to seek a second term.

He is anticipated to highlight his administration’s achievements in reducing prices for consumers and advocate for Congress to enhance initiatives to reduce healthcare costs and reform the tax code, as per administration officials familiar with his plans.
