April Social Security Update: Anticipation Builds as $943 Direct Payments Set to Roll Out in 29 Days

In a little more than four weeks, the Supplemental Security Income payment for the month of April, which may be worth up to $943 for self-employed individuals, will be distributed to millions of recipients.

According to the Social Security Administration, the following payment will be distributed on April 1 to those who have trouble with a condition that is both chronic and preventing and who have a low income.

To be eligible for Social Security Disability Insurance (SSI) benefits, an individual must be at least 65 years old, have at least some degree of partial blindness, or have a “physical or mental condition(s) that seriously limits their daily activities for a period of 12 months or more, or may be expected to result in death.”

How a person applies for the payment will determine the maximum amount that they are eligible to receive. Personal beneficiaries, joint beneficiaries, and important person beneficiaries are the three categories that beneficiaries can file under.

In a little more than four weeks, the Supplemental Security Income payment for the month of April, which may be worth up to $943 for self-employed individuals, will be distributed to millions of recipients.

Individual filers are eligible to receive up to $943 per month, couples who filed jointly are eligible to receive up to $1,415 per month, and essential persons are able to pay up to $472 per month, as stated by the Social Security Administration. As a result of inflation, these values represent a 3.2% rise from the year 2023.

One is considered to be an essential person if they reside with a person who is receiving Social Security Disability Insurance (SSI) payments and provide them with the necessary care.

Those who are eligible for both Social Security and these payments will get them in addition to their usual benefits; however, not all recipients will receive the entire potential amount. The Social Security Administration’s calculator allows filers to get a specific estimate.
