A former resident of Jamestown, who was previously convicted of defrauding individuals and stealing thousands of dollars, has been apprehended once more. This time, he was arrested for multiple outstanding warrants issued in two different states.
In 2009, Charles Pruenca pleaded no contest to the charge of obtaining money under false pretenses.
Pruenca assumed multiple false identities, including that of a Red Sox scout, a real estate investor, and a cancer survivor, in order to deceive and extort thousands of dollars from his victims.
He received a five-year sentence.
The state police violent fugitive task force apprehended him on Tuesday at an extended stay hotel in Warwick.
Pruenca had several warrants, including three from Rhode Island and one from Massachusetts for being a fugitive from justice.
