New Mexico’s cannabis regulator has recently issued a recall notice due to a wholesaler’s shipment of contaminated products to retailers throughout the state.
According to the New Mexico Cannabis Control Division, the company responsible for the contaminated product is WH Agriculture, also known as Maggie’s Farm. It is important to note that the contaminated product was cannabis flower and not concentrated products like gummies.
State regulators have reported that the product was sent to over 30 retailers during the period of March 6 to August 1.
In a notice dated September 4, Maggie’s Farms informed that the state had been notified in November 2023 about the company’s product testing positive for a pesticide known as pyrethrins. The state then requested the company on August 30 to demonstrate that it was using an acceptable level of the pesticide. However, the company was unable to provide the necessary proof, as stated in the letter.
The company must remove and destroy all of the product that has been distributed to dispensaries. Additionally, they are required to inform all retailers who may have purchased it.
The state has issued a list of 32 shipments that were sent to 11 dispensaries. Out of these, 23 dispensaries are located in Albuquerque, while the rest are spread across locations such as Los Lunas, Sunland Park, Alamogordo, and other areas.
Four retailers have made it onto the list: R. Greenleaf Organics, Everest Apothecary, Loud Cloud, and House of Blaze.
The New Mexico Cannabis Control Division is urging individuals to carefully review the list and take note of the package identification number. They are advised to either dispose of the product or return it to the retailer for proper destruction.
No health-related complaints have been reported, as stated in a news release. However, if anyone has concerns, they can contact the state poison control hotline at (800) 222-1222.
