5 teenagers including a 12-year-old, were allegedly involved in an accident following a high-speed pursuit

Five teenagers and a 12-year-old were allegedly involved in a harrowing high-speed chase that raced through multiple neighborhoods in South Los Angeles, culminating in a violent collision on Sunday night.

According to officials from the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the pursuit commenced around 10:45 p.m. along the southbound lanes of the 605 Freeway. Reports from OnSceneTV, a stringer service, indicated that a white BMW SUV carrying six teenage occupants was involved.

CHP spokespersons stated that once the vehicle exited the freeway, pursuit by ground units ceased, with an airship assuming control around 11:10 p.m.

Throughout the chase, the driver purportedly disregarded numerous red lights and narrowly avoided colliding with several civilian vehicles.

The pursuit came to an abrupt halt shortly after the airship’s intervention, when the SUV collided with a semi-truck near the intersection of Figueroa Street and Slauson Avenue, as confirmed by authorities.

Footage from the scene depicts the mangled remains of the vehicle entangled in a nearby chain link fence, while reports indicated that the truck driver emerged unscathed.

Initial reports suggest that the driver and one additional occupant were transported to a nearby hospital for assessment, with no further injuries reported.

The remaining four individuals were observed seated on the sidewalk, restrained in handcuffs. While CHP affirmed the detention of four vehicle occupants, they were unable to verify their ages.

The investigation into the incident has been assumed by the Los Angeles Police Department.
